Can I ride a bike as a fitness replacement for running as i’ve pulled my soleus muscles?
Question by Sarah: Can I ride a bike as a fitness replacement for running as i've pulled my soleus muscles?
it hurts to run, but I love keeping fit, It relieves me for stress and makes me feel healthy. I've had problems with my soleus muscle, which has caused my running to come to a stand-still for at least 2 or 3 weeks.. The thought of not being able to run for that amount of time pisses me off like you wouldn't believe. Could I ride a bike instead?

Biking can be just as effective as running, you just have to do it a lot longer to get the same work out you would from running. For example one mile of running equals three miles of cycling.
You can look these things up on the internet.

Yes, you can do lots of things, and biking is a good recovery day for running, you can also swim or use an elliptical machine at the gym.
Most experts feel you need to do 4 miles on a bike to equal 1 mile running, but if you are not used to biking that is going to be very difficult to do.
